Masters of Arts in Counseling Education
Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)
For as long as I can remember, I have always been a helper. Whether it was family, friends, co-workers, or sometimes even strangers; I have been able to listen and assist others in finding solutions to their problems. So it only makes sense to me that counseling is my passion and profession.
When confusing events happen in our lives, and in the lives of our children, it can effect every facet. Those confusing events are also called traumas and it can impact school, home and even the entire family. Children who are struggling with trauma will have difficulty controlling their emotions, trouble focusing in school and will often turn those struggles inward and exhibit signs of depression or anxiety.
I worked for years as a Professional School Counselor before starting a new journey in private practice. So it is no surprise that I work primarily with children, adolescents, teens and young adults. My therapeutic techniques range from play therapy to cognitive behavioral therapy, along with mindfulness therapy. I have had great success with clients who are struggling with anxiety and emotional regulation. With my younger clients, I provide family therapy and parenting support as well because we are a team and I understand that as parents, we do not often know the BEST way to handle our child's anxiety or depression. I can help!
As I mentioned, I started my counseling journey as a school counselor in Missouri, and worked in the St. Louis City School District. After 5 years of counseling in the school setting I decided to start my own private practice. I have been in private practice for 4 years now and share office space with Horizon Hope Counseling. I am married with a wonderful blended family of five! I have two children of my own, whom I adopted from Belarus, and 3 amazing bonus kids. From this experience I have drawn an empathy and knowledge that shapes me as a therapist, especially in the areas of adoption and parenting. I look forward to providing you, your family and/or your children therapeutic support in a positive and caring environment.
